So I'm on this certain live journal community, which will remain nameless, but has to do with my LJ icon and a certain Sci-Fi series.
(Stargate: Atlantis -- horrible guilty pleasure.)
I've been keeping up on this one fanfic that seems to remind me vaguely of the Ralph and Pookah stories of old (I don't recall where these are on childfree, so if they're friends-protected, you may have to briefly join bad_rpers_suck to access the posts).
I get the distinct impression that the Wraith don't really like children. Even for eating. I have a feeling that this Sue-thor (her main female character is a GLARING Sue) is totally going to have her lead female character get OMG!TehPregnate!!11one! by her boy-toy Wraith, which will make Steve sad.
Why is it that people think they're doing a fandom such a great service by impregnating characters? I've read a lot of Wraith/human fanfic, and it's always the same story. Wraith falls in love with human. Human gets pregnant. Human has a half-Wraith, half-human, half-unicorn, half-Elvaan, half-Mithra, half-Sluagh, half-Pookah love child, which screws with all sorts of canon.
Please leave my fandoms childfree, thank you.
(Actually, I'm secretly hoping that the Sue-thor of this fanfic does have her character get pregnant, so that way I can totally make fun of it and post it here for people to laugh at.)

| Looking for childfree people in the Detroit area |
[30 Nov 2005|05:05pm] |
Greetings -- I'm currently working on a story on childfree people and couples in the Metro Detroit area, and looking to speak with area residents who have an opinion on the childfree issue. I'm particularly interested in speaking with childree people who feel they've been misrepresented by the media. If you're from Michigan and you'd like to be interviewed for the article, please contact me at sklein@metrotimes.com.
For more information on the publication I write for, visit www.metrotimes.com.
Thank you for your time.

watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on cable tonight...the one thing i LOVE about this movie is that all the spoiled rat-bastard kids get what they deserve for not behaving and following directions. and Charlie gets rewarded for his earnest integrity, kindness and respect.
it's a twisted movie but one that is a good message overall.... feedback?

Do we know of any definite CF stars in Hollywood? How about writers and other celebrities? -- Sarah

Whatever happened to that one comedy show that someone posted about on childfree a while ago? It was called something like Wanda's World or somethign close to that -- I distinctly remember the name Wanda. Someone watching the show posted about it to the main CF list. Just curious to know if that show is still on. -- Sarah

| Jumping the shark? Jumping the Cradle! |
[21 Jun 2003|05:46pm] |
On Jump the Shark, they have a special catagory for shows that tanked when the writers put a pregnancy plot in the script.
this has been a particular bugaboo of mine for sometime, my two biggest disappointments are with Roseanne, when Darlene the most CF out of all the Conner clan gets knocked up, and with 90210's Gabrielle Carteris' character becoming pregnant....two of these characters were strong, independent, whipsmart women who i felt were tripped up by lazy writers who instead of deepening their roles, just slapped them with a baby, i guess i think that writers wanted these characters to be more "conformist" and not be the black sheep among the cast anymore but again i felt that these two deserved better than to become a primetime statistic.
anyone else have a jumping-the-cradle rant?

| Secret Asian Man |
[12 Jun 2003|08:58am] |

For those who are familiar with the comic strip "Secret Asian Man," Tak (presumably, since the strip is rather autobiographical) just had a kid, and now the kid is in the strip. Hopefully the strip won't turn into a babyfest, and he'll continue to write smart, clever, and thoughtful strips.
